The main settlement in Belasitsa region in FYR Macedonia is the town of Strumica and Belasitsa villages include Kuklish, Svidovitsa, Bansko, Gabrovo, Koleshino, Borisovo, Mokrievo, Mokrino, Smolari, Drazhevo and Staro Konjarevo.
Strumica is the largest town in the eastern part of the FYR Macedonia. It is situated close by Belasitsa Mountain near the Novo Selo-Petrich border crossing with Bulgaria. The town is named after the Strumica (Strumeshnitsa) River which runs through it. The town is the seat of Strumica Municipality. The population of the town sums more than 35 000 people.
