The town of Petrich is the seat of Petrich Municipality. The town is situated in Blagoevgrad Province in southwestern Bulgaria, located in the Strumeshnitsa Valley. As of 31 December 2013, the town has 31,140 inhabitants.
Petrich is located close to the borders with Greece and FYR Macedonia. The town is a main starting point for visits of Belasitsa and the picturesque Mountain villages.
