Monospitovsko swamp

If you are a nature lover the Monospitovskoto swamp has a lot to offer. In the area are found more than 250 species of vascular plants, 130 species of birds, 27 species of amphibians and reptiles.

There are interesting inhabitants among invertebrates too.

Until 1947 the marshy area of the swamp was about 5,000 hectares. The water depth hass reached 4 meters and clear water surface - 500 ha. At this time the biodiversity has been very interesting. Today after draining the swamp occupies only 430 ha. Clear water surface in more humid months is about 23 hectares.
There is a specialized wooden trail leading to few observation points and hides into the swamp which can be accessed from the villages of Bansko and Monospitovo.
