It’s located 13 km away from the town stadium in Petrich, and 1284 m above sea level. You can reach the hut by car on a paved road, but the last few km of it are dirt road. Kongur hut used to be a frontier post (built in 1952) and it has been open for tourists since 2004. There is a tourist dinning room and kitchen in the main building, which is a massive two-storey building. The smaller building( ex-officer’s building) consists of flats with en-suite bathrooms. It’s open for visitors all year round. The hut is a perfect place to start climbing the near Kongur peak ( 4 km away) or the highest peak in the mountain- Kalabaka- aka Radomir( 9,4 km away).
The route from Petrich to Kongur hut has a red marking( across Belasitsa hut) and yellow( shortcut), which leads to the red one, little before the shelter- Gyulova polyana. There is also a non-marked path from Belasitsa village to the hut.
Tourists can use the dinning room or be provided with restaurant service ; there are summer houses on the lawn in front of the hut, car transport of tourists in the mountain

The whole capacity is 50 beds( in the main and officer’s building) as the guests can stay in rooms with 2 or more beds with shared bathrooms and WCs.
